The Flying Goose

About the project
Flying Goose Tavern, a small family-run tavern in Kerhonkson, NY, embodies the timeless charm of the Catskills. Our vision was to create an inviting space that encourages easy conversation and comfort, while seamlessly integrating with the region's historic aesthetic.
Starting with a blank canvas, we drew inspiration from iconic establishments like The Odeon in Tribeca and the grand Adirondack resorts of the early 19th century. Through thoughtful material selection and multiple layers of deep forest green paint, we crafted an atmosphere so authentic that patrons often mistake it for a decades-old establishment.
The space was truly transformed when our local builders, Rob Fisher and Kevin Johnson, revealed their artistic talents. They conceived and created a captivating mural border that encircles the entire room, depicting local heroes and landmarks—including playful scenes of bears rummaging through garbage.
This distinctive touch adds character and grounds the tavern firmly in its Catskills setting, making Flying Goose a uniquely memorable destination.
