Park Slope
About the project
In this historic Brooklyn home, we were tasked with creating an elegant yet livable environment for longtime clients who had amassed a remarkable art collection. The project presented an exciting opportunity to showcase their diverse pieces while maintaining a warm, inviting atmosphere.
The homes art collection serves as the starting point for our design narrative. A sculptural woven piece by Sheila Hicks engages with Claes Oldenburg's whimsical 1960s Tea Bag sculpture, while Miles Aldridge's large-scale photography adds a contemporary edge. To let these distinctive works shine, we chose a sophisticated neutral palette that provides harmony (without falling into monotony).
Working within the classic Brooklyn brownstone footprint, we reimagined the compact kitchen and bath spaces for modern living. The guest room emerged as an unexpected showstopper – we embraced drama here, pairing Antoinette Poisson wallpaper with matching fabric to create an intimate jewel box that has become everyone's favorite retreat.
The result honors both the home's historic bones and the family's artistic sensibilities, creating spaces that are as comfortable as they are refined.
